Precautions for using a wheelchair

2015-06-25 00:00:00
times

1. Pay attention to safety. When entering or exiting doors or encountering obstacles, do not use a wheelchair to hit doors or obstacles (especially for the elderly, who are prone to injury due to osteoporosis).

2. When pushing the wheelchair, instruct the patient to hold onto the wheelchair armrest, sit as far back as possible, and avoid leaning forward or getting off the wheelchair on their own; To avoid falling, add straps if necessary.

3. Due to the small front wheels of the wheelchair, encountering small obstacles (such as small stones, small ditches, etc.) during fast driving can easily cause the wheelchair to come to a sudden stop, causing the wheelchair or patient to tip forward and injure the patient. The wheelchair pusher must be careful and may use a pull back method if necessary (due to the larger rear wheels, the ability to overcome obstacles is stronger).

4. When pushing the wheelchair downhill, the speed should be slow, and the patient's head and back should lean back and grip the handrail tightly to avoid accidents.

5. Always pay attention to observing the condition; If the patient has lower limb swelling, ulcers, or joint pain, they can lift the foot pedal and place a soft pillow on it.

6. When the weather is cold, pay attention to keeping warm. Lay the blanket directly on the wheelchair, wrap it around the patient's neck with a pin, and wrap it around both arms with the pin fixed on the wrist. Then wrap the upper body, take off the shoes, and wrap the lower limbs and feet with the blanket.

7. Wheelchairs should be checked regularly, lubricated regularly, and kept in good condition for future use

The wheelchair supplier's suggestion is mainly to be careful and conduct regular physical examinations on the wheelchair, avoiding carelessness and haste.
